The Self-Employed category also falls under the Occupation Permit scheme. It caters for all those operating under the liberal professions. It implies that applicants are qualified professionals (Eg: Consultants, Lawyers, Medical practitioners, etc.).

 

This scheme is accessible to professions and does not accommodate any 'business' components. Its general objective is to attrach expertise in the liberal professions. The Self-Employed person is not covered and cannot operate under any distinct legal entity, except under his own name.

 

 

Eligbility and conditions

 

  • Minimum investment of USD35,000

  • Minimum annual revenu of Rs600,000

  • All qualifications should be presented in original

  • Applicant should be qualified and duly registered with the bodies governing the professional (Medical Council, Legal Council, etc.)

  • Medical examinations strictly to be done in Mauritius

  • Applicant is not covered by any other legal entity and operates under his own name.
