Occupation Permit (Professional) is a scheme designed, managed and processed by the Board of Investment. It is a modern scheme framed around the attraction of high-caliber foreign expertise. This Occupation Permit addresses professionals having an employment contract with a Mauritian company for a monthly salary exceeding Rs45,000.  In the case of employers engaged in the ICT sector, the minimum salary conditions is brought to Rs30,000 a month.

 

Note should be taken that the BOI is a one-stop-shop and a facilitator. Permits are delivered by the Passport & Immigration Office, acting under the aegis of the Prime Minister's Office. As opposed to Work & Residence Permit scheme, the applicant should be present in Mauritius during the application and processing phases.

Eligibility and conditions:

 

• Salary of more than Rs45,000 a month. Except in the ICT sector where the minimum is Rs30,000 a month

• All qualifications should be presented in original

• The applicant should be fully qualified for the post offered

• The applicant should not be a shareholder of the company offering him employment. This is possible under the Work & Residence Permit scheme

• Medical examination should compulsorily be carried out inMauritius

• The Employer provides an undertaking and engages itself to provide a return ticket to the employee on termination of his contrct.

• Permit duration: 3 years or less if contract of employment so specifies
